INCREDIBLES 2
Genre: Animated Film
Year: 2018
Synopsis:
The Incredibles 2 starts off by picking up where the last part of the film ended. Well, in real time 14 years may have passed, but the animation allows it stop and resume time whenever it pleases. And so we see a villain attack going by the name Underminer, digging through the city, and through this robbing banks from the ground, and we watch the family try to stop the attack. They do, but there’s so much damage done to the city of metropolis that no one is there to thank them. Instead, they were criticized for their attempt to help the city. And I think it reflects our current culture, government officials would rather just let the criminals get away with the crime they have committed. But one person refuses to believe that superhero activity should be criminalized and that is Winston who comes to the Incredibles with a plan. He’s working with his sister Evelyn, they want to make superheroes great again. And he’s going to do so by being transparent to the public. They’ll put a body camera on a superhero and that will allow the world to fall in love with heroic deeds of superheroes all over again. The Deavors pick Elastigirl to be the face that will make people love heroes. Because Elastigirl’s methods are more cost effective when it comes to protecting the city. Once again, the concept that we only appreciate that which we can see in today’s spcoety feels remarkably current. It’s if you don’t have pictures or videos to show the people, it means it didn’t happen. Pixar films are famously beautiful when it comes to character design and art direction. The action sequences are among the best you’ll see all year. There’s a sequence with Elastigirl and a runaway train that’s masterfully executed, and the climax is better than most Marvel action sequences. It’s a movie that’s in constant motion, surprising you with the way it so seamlessly flows from action to comedy to family and back again.
Recommendation:
Since it’s a sequel, some if the thrill, mystery and excitement of the film was diluted. Disney usually focuses on single installment of movies and works on that entirety. I highly suggest that Disney sticks to single installment movies. Well, Toy Story is an exception in which the film has 3 installments. Over all, the movie is a good family film and is suitable for all ages.
